Never Seen It!: Poltergeist

This is why your parents tell you not to sit too close to the TV!

Hey Everybody!

Welcome to a new edition of Never Seen It! This is my regular series where I’m screening iconic/classic films I’ve never seen and chatting about it. Given that it’s October—season of ghouls, ghosts, and The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown—I thought I’d pop in a horror/thriller flick. Today I’m chatting about the 1982 cult classic, Poltergeist.

I watched this one alone in a house up in a remote part of New Hampshire. Think dirt road, no lights, many animal sounds. You guys—I WAS SO BRAVE! Not really as Poltergeist, it turns out, much scarier to my 7-year-old mind. Most frightening thing in there is a requisite evil ass clown doll WHO SHOULD GO BACK TO HELL WHERE IT BELONGS!

Anyway…..have a listen.

The book I mention is The Future Was Now, by Chris Nashawaty. Great read if you’re into film from the 1980s and especially if you’re into the sci-fi film evolution.

Thanks everyone! Happy Hauntings!

X! She
