Hi Friends!
Welcome to a new edition of Nevahhh Seen It!, an audio series where I screen a film that totally passed me by and chat about it. There are some in-jokes and references really worth waiting for!
Today I’m joined by my fellow pop culture gunslinger, Eric Pierce (All the Fanfare). We’re catching some “tasty waves” of Gen X nostalgia with a screening of 1982’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High. This movie was hailed by critic Richard Roeper as one of “the best teen ribald comedies ever made.” Take a Xanax, Richie. WE LIVED THIS DECADE AND WE HAVE THE INTESTINAL DAMAGE FROM DRINKING TOO MUCH JOLT TO PROVE IT!
Have a listen and weigh in:
Did Sean Penn peak as Spicoli? Would you watch a Spicoli-based series where he travels around in his van, getting into capers and maybe solving mysteries? So, basically Shaggy without the rest of the Scooby gang?
What is the least horrible fast food job you would work? In or out of a costumed uniform?
What happened to Judge Reinhold? I miss that guy!
What will it take to make THE MALL happen again? Tell us about the MALL social hierarchy of your youth. Did you work at a Glamour Shots? It’s okay. This is a safe space.
BONUS!: Follow Eric deeper into the lair of “ribald” (Okay, Roeper, you went to college..we get it!) 80s teen sex comedies with his truly most excellent piece:
