I’ve watched every season up until this current one in MN. I just cannot do it. I’ve tried. Truly I did. But I’m still watching Kim K and her sisters on their show. 😆. Give me reality TV that isn’t so bland and I’m all in!
I can totally relate to being especially drawn to shows if they are set in your hometown! It's a bit of a thrill whenever a character is in some location that you would go to all the time. Like tonight I was watching Running Point and there was the obligatory LA freeway interstitial shot which made me all nostalgic cuz it was the exact exit I would get off to go home.
Another fun piece Sheils and of course I loved how you worked in my fave Sheila-ism "harsh barley" 😁
My friend..I think we can agree that Harsh Barley is the 2025 BRAND! :) You must experience A LOT of LA nostalgia through so many shows and movies. I agree that there is just something thrilling about it...maybe it's silly, but if you lived in that city or even spent time there it's like "GASP! I KNOW THAT BRIDGE!!!" :) We will see if janky Beantown gets, like, wicked, serious about like, love and, like, friggin lawkin that shit DOWN, kid! Wicked. :)
Let me know if Love Is Blind features the aquarium! We visited Boston when my kids were little and I have a photo of my daughter petting the penguin statue in front :) Yeah it does give a lil frisson of excitement even if you've only spent a tiny bit amount of time there and didn't even go inside :D
I have no TV, so I wonder... do they ever follow up on the ones who DO marry? Are they still together? Is the separation rate higher/lower than that of standard match-ups?
My boy was on a "reality" tv show once - Junkyard Wars. He gave me a blow by blow description of the production. As far from reality as one could get! 100% staged
Oh yes..they are all super, super fabricated..up the wazoo. That’s a given. I hope his experience was positive at least! They do a reunion type show and dish the dirt on who is together, split, or who might have split to date someone else from the show…all the dumb gossipy stuff :)
I watched a bit of the first season and got the draw. I couldn’t finish it cause adhd and tons of other shinier, grittier Pennies but I do like your strategy of just getting to the root of political and social questions that determine values and character. I mean this is Boston! Hello?!! Like if we can’t add culture and depth who is going to? Hasty Pudding baby and Ben + Matt.
Absolutely! I’ll be glued to the show if it is a Boston season…with the editing and everything they will still probably make us look like a town of sports fans and historical reenactors….okay, I’ll take it! This show is definitely junk food….easy to dip into and just as easy to leave it for other stuff :)

HAAAA! That's the spirit my friend!
Enjoyed this, Sheila!
Thanks Amanda! You gotta balance out the thinky-twisty emotional riptide of stuff like The White Lotus with the equivalent of Funions :)
Couldn't agree more, Sheila! Love the Funions!

Aww! That is so sweet! I’ll report back! 😉
Holy shit they can get turned down at the altar? I think I’d be broken for life.
I KNOW! Right? And you really don’t know until the words are coming out of their mouths. It’s bananas!

I saw some of the first season - ok maybe the whole thing - and it was insane. Is it still hosted by Nick and Vanessa?
