Ok, but what’s it say about me if I’m old enough to get the Kevorkian reference, have had a crush on Natalie Wood, but am too young to know she was in this movie?

Am I… Am I in some sort of generational purgatory?

More importantly: we might argue about what city rules the most, but these pics can’t be beat!

HAA! Thanks Kevin! I will thumb wrestle you on city superiority, but my heart won’t be in it…both Madison and Mill-ehhh-walk-ayyy are top..notch! I also didn’t know Natalie Wood was in the film until I fired it up. Hooo nelly is she precocious and pretty great. Settle into your generational purgatory. That’s where the good snacks are at :) Happy holidays! Already can’t wait for your gems in 2025! X!

Ha I beat all y'all cuz 1) I got the Kevorkian reference 2) I also love Natalie Wood and 3) always knew she was in Miracle on 34th. Although I Nevahh Seen It either due to Its A Wonderful Life is the only b&w Xmas movie you need!

P.S. I'm watching Red One rn and I really like it! I mean great cast - JK Simmons as Santa, Chris Evans, The Rock, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka. If you guys see this one (it's on Amazon Prime), lmk what you think!

I got ALL the references. I’m old…

That said, I really enjoyed this. I watched 34th Street as a kid with my parents and thought it was ahead of its time, which it was. Natalie Wood was great in it. What I enjoyed about it was that it wasn’t all sentimental and gooey, but at the same time had a nice message.

I’m trying to wrap up here too. Have one more essay coming this week along with the last two “52 Weeks” between now and year’s end. Hope you’ll stop by and take a look!

I prefer to think of it as “well seasoned.” Right? Miracle 34th is a quality holiday staple. Maybe I’ve been too primed for the holiday schmaltz factor..who knows? I thought it all came together in a very clever and charming way. Looking forward to at least one more ‘52! There can never be too many photographs. Nope! Enjoy the rest of the season!!

"Humor Saves"-- I want this bumper sticker, or at least a press-on for my laptop.

It is amazing that Doris was a single mom with a good job in 1947. They were out there. I just finished a great book called, Becoming Madame Secretary-- about the first woman labor secretary in FDR's admin.

Enjoy the jolly-days!

PS Do not watch Holiday Inn. I watched as a kid, but I was appalled as an adult. Not only the "mammy" type character but a dance number in black face!!!

Eeeesh!! No wonder White Christmas dominates! I think I tried Holiday Inn once when I was a kid and just remember it was slow and boring and, like, no costume changes! I was also pleasantly surprised that Doris was a baller. She also didn’t “lose her head” because an eligible man was paying her attention. So, the NYT was right-fresh little movie indeed! I’ll get on those bumpa stickahhs because: AGREED one million percent! 💥🥸
