I, too, fell in love with my Walkman right away. That blanket analogy is spot on. It felt like a shield to me. Interestingly (or not) the first one felt really heavy (as in solid and well built), while none of the other ones I got after that did. When I helped my mom downsize/move a a couple of years ago, I was really hoping to find it in a box somewhere, but no go. Wherever it is, I hope it's forever home is a good one (or at least not at the dump).

I also remember my first Walkman being bulky & solid. At the time I don’t remember being bothered by that, but then again I wasn’t trying to jog or exercise with it. I mostly remember how awesome it was to be anywhere with it and insulated from everything else. It probably fed my dumb, misguided adolescent smug superiority..but one essay at a time! I hope your guy found a good home, too 😊

No, you would have been THE BEST influence on me! At the very least I would have been forced to have style 😘

Haha! So good: “ (I tended to be bossy mixed with an insufferable need to have the spotlight in that “I’m the silliest! Look at me! Watch what I’m doing!” kind of way. My apologies to everyone I encountered from grade school until junior year of college)”...Makes me love ya more! Xo

You had me at “aural Hoover”. 😆

I also use my old iPhone 6 for music (in my car - for when my Sirius trial ends and I don’t want my phone to be connected to the car) and am always so amazed how so many memories and feelings can be held in that little device, courtesy of all the songs it holds. Keep on jamming to your tunes as you step!

I am totally a fan of the portable jukebox. I agree that, for me, it is a portal to so many memories and experiences. Having it right there in your ear like that feels deeply personal. Thank you Sony!! :) Rock on, sistah!
