Comedy is hard! I really respect comedians and humor writers including you ofc :) And I feel we need all kind of stand up comics and comedy writers. I like smart ones like Ali Wong/Rachel Bloom/Sarah Silverman (I met her once! I'll cross-post my Medium article where I mention that to my Substack at some point) etc. but let's face it, a good fart or dad joke also does the job for me 99% of the time :D
You are really, really kind Marmi! Comedy/humor...it's so much more than entertainment I think. And I love that, like music and TV, there are so many ways into the whole universe, you know? Exactly what you said--my husband's 97-year-old Meme would giggle every time she passed gas (or anyone else) just as easily as she'd laugh at Johnny Carson or something. What a gift it all is. It has saved my ass more times than I can count (and still counting). Related-ish-ish: Schmig Part Deux: not as strong as the first, but has its shiny bits. I look forward to your thoughts! X!
Aw that's so cute about Meme! For some reason Boomer age and older Asians have zero sense of humor about passing gas. Like when *they* let 'er rip then we are supposed to pretend like nothing happened. But if one of us kids accidentally blasted one, then they always got super mad. I wrote a 1-minute article about me and my family eating chili for dinner last year, lmk if you want to read it and I'll maybe post it as a note ☺️
I want to see Schmig 2 so bad, but we don't have Apple+ so I have to wait for my hubs to get it another way. I do love Chicago and some Sondheim, so I'm sure I will dig it. Will post my thoughts as soon as I can binge!
