Did you smell them? I grew some sunflowers a few years ago and the smell was intoxicatingly delicious - I don't know if it was the variety I grew or if they are all heavenly scented? Love your late summer ritual!

Thanks Diana! I didn’t dare stick my snout too close and get in the way of so many busy pollinators on these lovely faces. I think you might have stumbled upon a delicious variety—I can’t say I’ve encountered a distinct smell. Lucky you! Please give that experiment another go on your new land and report back! X!

Now if only I can remember which variety it was! I will be chasing this ambrosia for the nose and will definitely report back, in time!

One of the most photogenic flowers. Colors, textures, personalities. They gave it all!

They really did!! I became a little obsessed with their incredible crowns and all that lovely design…I took A LOT of “one more from behind” shots :) I REGRET NOTHING! :) Thanks so much!

I love sunflowers! We've been growing them in the backyard and they always bring such cheer! However, they also signal the start of the school year and the end of summer, so seeing them is certainly bittersweet.

I hear you and feel the same. I'm always so happy to see them, but they are an end-of-summer arrival. You are lucky to have them right outside your door! Enjoy!

“Floral cyclops” is the perfect descriptor! You can’t help but stare at their big, dark, eyes…Are they secretly getting ready to take over the world?!
