Lilac season is in full swing here in America's Dairlyland as well. I usually find out when flowers show up on our counter, or just some petals. 'Cause why not, I guess?
Also: The "pro move" is definitely working the Masshole drawl in anywhere/everywhere you can. I'm here for it!
When flowers randomly make their appearance in your home you dare not question! Besides…one day cookies might appear, so you better just shut up and keep believin! :) Thanks for being the Masshole instigatahhhhh. Like I frickin need any more encouragement, kid! :)
A most informative essay, Sheila! Beautifully written and illustrated. Thanks for the walk through the glorious lilacs. And yes, I CAN smell their fragrance while reading this. As always, magnificent photos.
YAY!! I did my job if you can get some lilac WAFT from this :) The Arboretum is truly a magical place. It was exploring the grounds for the book that gave me a new appreciation for these types of spaces. I was lucky to get to visit the Chicago Botanic Gardens in the fall and that was next level! I'm still dreaming about it! Thanks Sharron! :)
Lilac season in Minnesota too, and it’s also, as you so wonderfully put it, a “banger.” Thank you for sharing this passionate, beautiful, informative story. I’m putting Lilac Sunday on my calendar and booking my flight to Boston.
Ah! Disregard my other comment..you ARE soaking up blooms in the Minne! I’m so happy it’s a gorgeous, luscious season. We are lucky..and YES…get on over here…better just plan on parking your heels for most of May. You own your own jet, no? :)
Oh, that old jet. I let Taylor Swift borrow it for her Eras tour and she hasn’t returned it. So much for that friendship bracelet. Yes, it’s a glorious spring here. Can’t get over it. I love Boston, but I would never rent a car there. Who knows, I might just be stranded. 😊
We could TP Tay-tay’s manch…maybe get ourselves written into a song? No one should rent, drive, or make cars in Boston. Our terrible, confusing streets are part of a master plan to bring the horse/carriage days back. We play the wicked long game! 😉
