LOL! This is hilarious, and is chock-full of nostalgia. The Alan Thicke reference takes the cake, bravo.
We've always been gamers. Clue is a fav. You are dead-right about Monopoly. How it starts with laughs and ends up a grim-fisted affair. Haven't played it in YEARS. Settlers of Catan is very similar in how it progresses. I really enjoyed how you tied this altogether. Beautiful work!
I loved the photo captions. Genius! The dialogue was pitch-perfect too. I want the story to continue please. :D
Eric...YOU GET IT!!! Monopoly is a curs-ed object....100%. Maybe that's why there's been no Palestine/Israeli fix...they have a Monopoly game going for the last 400 years :) Catan is right up there, too. We also turned my husband's family onto Carcassonne on one family lake vacation and we saw a side of his mother that we simply cannot unsee! I think she carries that tally sheet of roads/lands around with her determined to make the math work..Minga! :) Yes, Boris and Natasha will return! Many schemes to make...but shhhh tell no one! :) X!
We have French Monopoly chez nous! Un petit peu boring though because the pieces are the same. Just the utilities are slightly different but otherwise instead of Boardwalk and Park Place it's Champs Elysees and Arc du Triomphe.
Concur with what Eric said re Alan Thicke TV theme songs! One time I got to see his son Robin and wife Gloria Loring sing a duet of The Prayer. Pun intended but I was in heaven! Next best thing to actually seeing the Growing Pains dad in person.
Eagerly awaiting your next newsletter and more beautiful nature pics Sheila!
Oh you are lucky! A brush with Clan Thicke!!! Did you immediately feel like you could have a heartfelt moment with one of your parents' while perched on the back bumper of your station wagon in the driveway? :) Monopoly is not to be trifled with in any iteration! It has some serious dark Jumanji gris-gris in there....RUN! :) X!
HahaHA! Heh. Those were some long and cranky nights! I remember backing out/escaping from game play every time The whole pretense that there were no “singed feelings...” perfect. So funny. Also more Boris and Natasha please! 💜
Then you KNOW!!! Yeah..talk about something made for an Edward Albee play...game night....*shudder* :) Thanks my friend....noted on Boris and Natasha....they shall return. But tell no one! XO!
